Karnataka State government plans to launch cable network soon at affordable cost- Minister Baig

Mangaluru, December 8: State information Minister Roshan Baig on addressing the media at Circuit House Mangaluru on Sunday December 7th has informed that after obtaining approval from union government, Karnataka state government has plan to launch cable television network services in the near future.

He said that, the customers are exploited by the private cable operators by charging Rs 400 per month, stating that they would provide over 500 channels. But, the public do not have time to surf through all the channels. Hence it id decided to reduce the cable fee to Rs 100 and provide better service through the state government’s own cable network.

Minister Baig said that he would discuss the matter with the chairman of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and Ravi Shankar Prasad, union minister for communications and information technology and will arrive at a decision soon.

The private cable operators have opposed the state government’s move to operate cable network.
