Mangaluru, December 5: A coastal security police boat, caught fire at Tannirbhavi beach in Mangaluru by Thursday evening on December 4th.
Sources revealed that the boat was used for patrolling the beach from 8 am to 2 pm. It left the Tannirbhavi dock at 8.15 am and returned at 2.30 pm on Thursday. The boat was brought ashore and anchored near the police quarters after patrol. Later the boat caught fire.
Fishermen tried to extinguish the fire but their efforts were in vain. The boat is almost charred. The loss incurred is not yet known.
Short circuit might have caused the fire, it is predicted.
