Mangaluru, November 4: Jokatte Nagarikara Horaata Samithi protested in front of the MRPL cargo gate against the risk of industrial pollution caused by MRPL and closure of the Sulphur, coke units on Monday, November 3rd.
MRPL third phase coke and sulphur unit has ruined the lives of the citizens at Jokatte Kalavaru, Thokur, and Kenjaru village. Bad smell emanating out of the plant, the noise throughout day and night, the noise, air,and water pollution persists daily alleged the protestors.
The government has failed to attend the grievances of the protestors over this issue. The people fall prey to the deadly diseases. In addition, new plants will spring up in the special economic zones which are carcinogenic feared the protestors.
President of the State Backward Classes awareness union KS Shivaram, leader of the dalit organization Shekhar Hejmady, Sharath Guddekoppa- Naadadoni Fisherman’s Association, DYFI president Munir Katipalla, Vassanth Achary, Santosh Bajal and others spoke on this occassion. B Hasanabba Nagarika Horaata Samithi, Hasan Shari, Moidin Sharif, Mohan, Sharif Nirmunje, Panchayat President Shekunhi, B K Imthiyaz, JDS minority department general secretary PHM Rafik Katipalla, J Hussain Jokatte, Mayyaddi and others led the protest.
JDS appeal: to draw the attention of the nation against the threat of industrial pollution by MRPL, a memorandum will be submitted On November 5th to the JDS veteran leader and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and former Chief Minister HD Kumar Swamy who are expected to visit Dakshina Kannada District said the General Secretary Rafiq Katipalla in a release.
