Mangalore, October 11: Mr Jayanth Kaikini , a poet and literaturist was felicitated with the Kota Dr Shivarama Karanth Huttura award on Friday October 10th evening at Kota Karantha Theme Park at a one month serial function arranged under the collaboration of Gram panchayat Katathattu, Kannada and cultural department Karnataka government, Dr Shivaram Karanth Trust Udupi, Dr Shivarama Karanth Huttura award board Kota; on the eve of the decennial ceremony of Huttura award, Dr Shivarama Karanth birth anniversary and Huttura award felicitation.
Addressing the audience after receiving the award Jayanth Kaikini said, Karanth was responding to the voice of each citizen, art means –it teaches to live with self confidence and self respect, he showed that an artist should not look himself down, I am proud to breathe in this land where he lived.
He lauded for organising such a function where Dr Shivaram Karanth is remembered even after several years of his disappearance.
Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake launched the program and said, Shivaram Karanth was a multi-talent, in his literatures-he had the desire of providing justice to the utmost downtrodden person in the society. He can be made memorable by felicitating the awards to those who have worked in the areas parallel to Karanth.
Kotothattu gram Panchayat president Mrs Shobha presided over the ceremony.
The chief guests Deviprasad Shetty-JDS district president, KSP Udupi president Neelavara Surendra Adiga,Zilla PAnchayat member Sunitha Rajaram, Taluk pancahyat member Bharat kumar Shetty, Saligrama town panchayat president Sadhu .P, Kota gram panchayat president Shiva Poojary were present.
On this occasion, Kaikini Kathana- a picture on Jayanth Kaikini was also launched.
Former minister Kota Shrinivas Poojary spoke occasionally. Mr Anand C Kunder welcomed the gathering. The convener of the Saligrama children’s fair Shreedhar Hande introduced the awardees through theYakshagana song. Secretary Narandra Kumar recalled the ones who helped for the program. The program was compeered by Ms Usha and Mr Satish Vaddarse. The PDO Jayaram Shetty thanked.
