Menace creating Lepoard Caged in Bantwal.

Bantwal, September 30: A Lepoard which came with an intension of eating a dog got trapped in the cage of Forest Department. The incident happened at Amyalagudde of Chennaiitodi village.

Over the past one and a half months, a Lepoard was seen in the vicinity of Chennaitodi- Vamadapadavu because of which the locals of that place were frightened. Due to the menace of the Lepoard the domestic animals from the houses such as cattle, calves, dogs went missing eventually. Tired of this, villagers complained to the forest department at Venur.

They had already investigated the spot, over the last 2-3 days ago, and Leopard appeared once again. Due to this, the villagers once again, requested the forest department, as per their request, the forest department officials of Venur placed a trap at Ammalagudde, and tied a puppy to this trap. The same Lepoard which had come on Sunday night to eat this puppy has fallen into the cage placed by the Forest Department.

The department officials said, this Lepord which got trapped in this cage will be freed at Kudremukh forest area. In 22-acre forest land spread here, belonging to the forest department, it is doubted that still many leopards might be present.

Subramanya Achar area forester, Venur forester Yashodhara and forest department staff, Dr Ashok Venur veterinary medical officer visited the place. A people gathered in large number to watch captured Lepoard.
