Mangalore, September 29: An auto driver’s body was found clinging inside the abandoned portion of the taluk office building on Sunday, September 28th here near State Bank.
The deceased has been identified as Sudhakar Shetty(45), a resident of Kanduka. Cops suspect it to be a suicide case. The other auto-drivers at the state bank auto stand said that, he had to hand over Dasara fund collected for almost a year to the driver’s association today. His body was found hanging to the wooden beam laid across the roof. He was operating his auto from State Bank auto stand.
An auto driver who knew Shetty on the condition of anonymity told that there was a scheme to raise fund for Dasara festival and Shetty was in–charge. According to the scheme from the day one of last year’s Dasara, state bank auto driver’s association collected fund to celebrate this year’s Dasara.
It is learnt that the fund was in is possession and he had to hand over the cash collected to the tune of Rs 2 lakhs by today. “Few days back Shetty was claiming the money has been looted citing irregularities in the gathered sum”, he added.
Driver further said that Shetty had filed a complaint at Kadri police station in connection to alleged grabbing of money.
The Bunder cops have arrived to the spot and sent the body to the government hospital to conduct post-mortem.
