Bantwal, September 25: The Bantwal cops led by ASP Rahul Kumar has raided and seized nine trucks which were transporting sand illegally on Wednesday night September 24th.
The trucks were seized close by Melkar.
On obtaining exact information that sand would be illegally transported from Mangalore to Bangalore, the ASP and his team inspected vehicles on Wednesday night and seized the trucks.
It is learnt that though the police had received information about 30 trucks transporting sand illegally, they managed to seize only nine. On suspection that the remaining trucks might have taken other routes to avoid inspection, ASP Rahul Kumar proceeded towards Farangipet and conducted the operation even there, sources said.
In this raid operation,Circle inspector Belliappa, Bantwal town police SI Nanda Kumar, rural police SI Nagaraj, Vittal police SI Raghavendra T R and other police personnel were present.
