Mangalore, September 24: A youth has barbarically attacked on a man and attempted to murder him at Vamanjoor check-post, on Wednesday afternoon in the outskirts of the city.
It is learnt that Santosh had been to a hotel to buy a lunch parcel. On his way back, two persons who came by bike, had allegedly attacked him with a sharp weapon and fled the spot.
During this attack; the victim has suffered injuries on his back and head. He is identified as Santhosh Kottari (31), who works for Mangalore City Corporation and is the brother of BJP General Secretary Rajesh Kottari, it is said.
It is gathered that, the culprit named Pavan a 20 year old boy is the son of Vamanjoor Rohi; a rowdy who was murdered during 2009. He was reportedly accompanied by another person identified as Arif.
Suspicions have aroused that this attack might have been carried out to avenge the death of Pavan’s father Vamanjoor Rohi in whose murder Santhosh Kottari had joined hands, it is said.
It is said, a year ago, Pavan had show-cased a knife to his lecturer and had threatened her; due to which he was debarred from St Raymond’s College.
The victim Santhosh has been shifted to a private hospital in the city and is out of danger.
Cops have visited the spot and investigations are in progress.
