Cattle trafficking van held

Mangalore, September 20: It is gathered that, activists of right wing outfit held a Pick up van which was transporting illegal cattle on Thursday night September 17th in Thumbe at Kasba village in Bantwal and handed it over to the cops.

Cops succeeded in arresting a person named Ivan D’Souza whereas other accused Taslim, Bashir and Ashok fled the venue. Cops have recovered 2 cows, 3 calves; Pick up van and Rs. 3.36 lakh from the accused.

On exact information activists of right wing outfit waylaid the van near Thumbe in which cattle were being carried illegally in a Pickup vehicle plying from Vogga to B.C road. On inspection they found cattle were inhumanely transported in the van.

Post which the matter was informed to the cops who succeeded in arresting the driver and the other three accused escaped from the site. On investigating, the accused had confessed that the stolen cattle were transported to a butcher’s house in Mangalore.

A counter case has been filed by the accused Ivan D’Souza against the right wing activists stating that a crew of five to six members had assaulted them.
