Mangalore, September 19: A protest was staged on September 19th by the Campus Front of India opposing the attack on MIFSE Students at Pumpwell circle today.
Thufail (President of State Council, CFI) addressing the protesters said, “The Campus Front of India is condemning the attack on Kalander by a group near the college. Parents send their children to college to pursue their education but some anti-social elements try to attack minority students. The student who was attacked is admitted in a hospital. Such repeated incidents create fear in the minds of the people. Concerned authorities should take stringent action to end such crimes. Whoever was involved in the attack should be arrested and stringent action taken against them. The student should be compensated and given protection.”
Addressing the protesters the District Council Member of CFI Riyaz said that, it is unfortunate for the CFI to get on the streets to rebel against the assault on minority students. “When there is assault on students, harassment of girl students or any other untoward incidents which take place in the college premises, CFI had protested against the injustice. On September 18th, some goons assaulted a student with an iron rod and a sharp weapon. Such untoward incidents have occurred in the past and happen to continue till date but no strict actions are taken against these goons. Law and order has totally collapsed and the goons have been taking the law in their own hands”.
Further he added that these goons were also supported by some media. “The previous government has supported ABVP and withdrawn all cases against them, which encourages them to commit more crimes. Campus Front of India will continue the fight until the victim gets justice and compensation, failing which the protest will be intensified by the Campus Front of India”.
