To avenge murder-Rowdy Pitty Nagesh was killed.

Udupi, September 13: The five criminals who were arrested on charge of murdering notorious criminal were brought before the press persons on Saturday, September 13th during a press meet at SP office in Udupi. District Superintendent of Police, P. Rajendra Prasad, stated that it was done to avenge against the murder of Rowdy Vinod Shettigar, murdered in Hiriadka on January 14th, 2011.

The accused are identified as Ivan Richard (33), son of Joseph Mascarenhas, a resident ofSanthekatte, Guruprasad Shetty (26), son of Govinda Shetty, a resident of Guddeyangadi, Santhosh Poojary (32), son of Shankar Poojary, a resident of Bailoor, Vishwanath Shetty (32), son of Bhoja Shetty, a resident of Korangrapady and Zakir Hussain (25), son of Mohammad Hanif and a resident of Kukkikatte.

 DCIB Police Inspector Jaishankar, under the directions of P Rajendra Prasad, Superintendent of  Police, Santosh Kumar, Additional Superintendent of Police, K Annamalai, Assistant Superintendent of  Police Karkala, Sunil Y Naik, Kaup police circle inspector and a team of DCIB seized all the five accused on Friday, September 12th afternoon at a farm near Railway Bridge in Galikudru of Udayavar.

 The police crew has also seized 2 swords, 1 knife, a Maruti 800 car, a Ford Fiesta and five mobile handsets.

An act of revenge:

On investigation, the accused admitted the crime and revealed that Pitty Nagesh was murdered to avenge the death of their friend Vinod Shettigar. Among the five accused, Guruprasad Shetty faces two criminal charges, Santosh faces two criminal charges, Vishwanath Shetty was named in three cases and Zakir faces two cases.

Nagesh was attacked on Thursday, September 11th night at Udyavar near Halima Sabju Auditorium by the gang. They butchered him to death and had fled the spot.

Criminal Background: Pitty Nagesh Devadiga (41), son of Basava Devadiga and a resident of Kukkikatte who started his profession as a rickshaw driver was involved in various criminal activities.

 He was also an accused in the murder case of Rowdy Vinod Shettigar, who was killed in Hiriadka jail on January 14th, 2011. Nagesh was also involved in the murder of a Nepali student in Manipal and murder of Hitendra Prasad, Editor of Hai Marutha in 2005. Apart from this, Nagesh was also involved in attempt to murder, ganja peddling and issuing death-threats.

The investigating team comprised of Jaishankar, DCIB Police Inspector, Sunil Naik, Investigating Officer and Kaup Police Inspector, Azmat Ali, Padubidri Police Sub-Inspector and Shirva Sub-Inspector Mr Ashok P.
