Police in India launch investigation into American Miss Universe for taking part in ‘disrespectful’ photo shoot for high heels in protected grounds of Taj Mahal
A complaint has been lodged against Miss Universe Olivia Culpo for allegedly violating rules at the historic monument by advertising a brand of footwear during a photo session at Taj Mahal.
Culpo was accompanied by fashion designer Sanjana Jon and others to the Taj Mahal on Sunday evening. As per the complaint filed, the party came beside the central marble tank, someone traveling with her took two sandals out of a bag, Culpo put one on her foot and held the other in her hand, while a cameraman took pictures with the Taj Mahal in the background. According to a Supreme Court directive, any kind of commercial activity is prohibited in the premises of archaeologically protected monuments.
The complaint filed clearly stated neither the Tourism Police nor the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) that is responsible for the Taj Mahal security stopped the party from doing the act. However, ASI’s Conservative Assistant, Syed Muuzzar Ali said he was on leave on Sunday and learnt about the incident only in the evening.
After visiting Taj Mahal on Sunday Olivia has tweeted, “Taj Mahal is breathtaking!!!!!!!!! Never thought I would actually make it here.Amazing experience.
