National carrier, Air India celebrated its merger with erstwhile Indian Airlines today as ‘Air India Day’. As part of the celebrations, Air India is offering tickets for Rs 100 for a limited period.
Air India was amalgamated with erstwhile Indian Airlines into one airline as ‘Air India’ on August 27, 2007. On the occasion, the flag carrier launched ‘Air India Offer’ – scheme offering tickets for Rs 100 apart from all applicable taxes.
The sale of these tickets was to be made only through the airline’s website for five days from August 27 to August 31 to travel between 27 August and 30 September only.
However, within minutes of the offer launch, Air India’s website crashed, bringing down the hopes of people wanting to book their journey on a super budget.
The website shows up errors such as ‘Server Error; Access is denied’. The error states that either the server hosting the website was overloaded or the server has crashed due to software glitch.
Air India has not issued any official statement on the site crash.
