Mumbai: On Thursday night Air India’s Birmingham-Delhi flight 113 flew over Ukraine crash site of Malaysian flight MH17. According to the officials on Thursday night at one point AI 113 was just 25 km behind from the Malaysian MH 17 flight which was shot down by rebels in Ukraine.

The flight paths as seen in flightradar24, a live flight tracker showed that flight AI 113 and Singapore Airlines SQ 351, were about 25 km from the plane that was targeted.

Soon after the crash news, officials from Indian Aviation had sent an urgent note to all its pilots to reroute their flights and avoid overflying the Ukranian airspace on Thursday.

Some newspaper reports said that the Malaysian Airlines flight was accidentally targeted and the real target was Russian President Vladimir Putin’s aircraft.

The Malaysian aircraft was apparently travelling on a similar route as Putin’s jet before it was brought down by militants, said unconfirmed news reports.
