Bhutan PM, Bangladesh Speaker arrive for Modi’s swearing-in

New Delhi: Prime Minister of Bhutan Lyonchen Tshering Tobgay and Bangladesh Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury arrived in Delhi on Sunday to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi on May 26.

This is the first time that the heads of state and government of SAARC nations have been invited to attend the swearing-in ceremony of an Indian Prime Minister.

Chaudhury will represent Bangladesh, as Premier Sheikh Hasina would be travelling to Japan at the time of the swearing-in ceremony.

Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai, Nepal prime minister Sushil Koirala and Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom will be among the foreign dignitaries attending the ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
