New Delhi: Exuding confidence that the Congress will get the “required number” to form the next government, party vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday ruled out the possibility of supporting a Third Front.

Responding to queries by reporters during his campaign in Amethi, Mr Gandhi said, “We will not support any front.”

“We will get the required number (of seats),” he said while replying to queries on whether his party will explore post-election tieups to form government.

Mr Gandhi’s remarks are significant as they came a day after CPM general secretary Prakash Karat said a repeat of the 1996-like situation is possible and the Congress may be forced to support a government of secular parties to keep the BJP out of power. SP leaders also claimed that they will get the support of the Congress for formation of a Third Front government.
