Elections 2014: Varanasi in bag, Narendra Modi to also fight from Vadodara

New Delhi: BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will also contest from Vadodara constituency in Gujarat, the party formally announced after a crucial day-long meeting in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Mr Modi is also set to fight the national election from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.The decision was taken in the presence of senior BJP leaders, including Modi.

There had been reports that Modi would contest a second seat from his home state.

The BJP deliberated between the constituencies of Ahmedabad East and Vadodara for Modi. The Ahmedabad East constituency is currently represented in Parliament by Haren Pathak.

Vadodara in central Gujarat has a large middle and upper class population which the BJP seeks to tap.
