The Madras High Court on Thursday directed the authorities to remove actor Sivaji Ganesan’s statue on the Kamarajar Salai here.
A Division Bench comprising Justices Satish K. Agnihotri and K.K. Sasidharan passed the order on a writ petition file by one Srinivasan of Chitlapakkam. The petition was filed in 2006.
The petitioner prayed the court to restrain the authorities from permitting the statue of Sivaji Ganesan at the junction of Kamarajar Salai and Radhakrishnan Salai.
In a counter, the police had submitted that because of the statue, motorists did not get a clear vision of vehicles at the junction. Accidents occurred at the intersection.
