After leaving Infosys I wanted to focus on creating a successful private equity fund and participate in certain social entrepreneurship ventures. However, the results of the Delhi elections were a turning point and an eye opener.

Coming from the corporate world I always learned to look at the big picture. The big picture idea of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is to create a corruption free polity in the country. Today, people in the country are fed up with our current political system and AAP, with its crusade against corruption, is a breath of fresh air and is providing the needed alternate in our current political system.

Lot of youngsters I spoke to were craving for a change and there is a silent revolution happening in the country. I genuinely want to be part of such a change and revolution. I strongly believe that the real impact of AAP will be felt in the 2014 parliamentary elections.

AAP’s simple messages – like anybody who fights against corruption is an “Aam Aadmi” irrespective of his/her status – are capturing the imagination of the people in the country.

I think it is necessary for all like-minded people to join together and support the AAP movement in whatever way they can. There were concerns about AAP being too populist in its thinking, which could hurt the country in the long run.

Every political party in this country has come with populist measures in one way or another at different points in time. However, a balance needs to be found between the economic growth agenda and the populist measures. Otherwise, it can’t sustain in the long term.

I strongly believe that entry of people like me could help create such a healthy debate within the AAP which could strengthen the party in the long run.
