Rajasthan: A camel brutally killed its 45-year-old owner by clutching his head and then smashing him to the ground in Bharatpur’s Nadbai area on Tuesday. The incident has come close on the heels of several other incidents of camels turning violent and harming their owners in the state.
According to the police, the incident occurred in Unch village in Nadbai area on Tuesday morning. “The camel is owned by one Deva Gujjar who was using the animal for transporting woods and other items,” said SHO, Nadbai, Veer Singh Shekhawat.
The owner was giving the animal fodder when it suddenly turned violent. “It was quite unexpected as the camel had been with Deva for years. The camel put Deva’s head in its mouth and then smashed him to the ground. His neck was broken and he died on the spot,” the officer added.
Some villagers saw the incident and immediately rushed Deva to a hospital. However, doctors declared him brought dead. Senior administration officials too rushed to the spot. The camel was taken away by local municipal employees. The police handed over Deva’s body to family members after postmortem.
There had been several incidents of violence by camels in the state in the recent past. In border districts of Barmer and Jaisalmer, many jawans and tourists have fallen pray to abnormal behaviour of these animals.
