PATNA: At least seven persons were killed in a planned attack by suspected Maoists on Thursday in the Naxal-infested Aurangabad district of Bihar. The ultras blew up the vehicles carrying seven persons, including the husband of a zila parishad member. “This tragic incident happened near Pathara village where Maoists blew up the vehicle through a powerful cane bomb killing all seven people travelling in the vehicle,” said, Director General of Police Abhyanand.

The ill-fated vehicle was targeted as it was carrying Sushil Pandey – the husband of zila parishad member Usha Devi –  who was returning to his native village Pisai.

Aurngabad  Superintendent of Police Daljeet Singh and other local civil and police officials have rushed to the spot with additional force to launch a combing operation against the Maoists, Abhayanand said.
