Hyderabad: A mentally unstable woman was raped on Saturday in Tandur of Ranga Reddy district. The incident came to light on Sunday after the victim’s brother lodged a complaint with the police. This is the second incident of the kind; a mentally-challenged woman was raped in Hyderabad a fortnight ago.
The 20-year-old woman lives with her brother, who has been looking after her. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon when the victim was alone at home.
The accused Parmesh, 25, a labourer, entered the house and assaulted her. He was caught in a semi-dressed state by the victim’s brother when he returned home. When confronted, Parmesh confessed to the crime but managed to escape.
Sub-inspector of police of Karankote S. Pavan said, “As per the complaint lodged by the victim’s brother, we have booked a case under Section 376 of IPC and a hunt is on for the accused who is absconding.”
