New Delhi: The two women from Nepal who were lured with the promise of a well paying job in India but instead faced horrors at the hands of an Arabian diplomat, have vowed to never leave their country in search of work again.

The Nepalese embassy will issue temporary passports for the victims as their original passports are still with the Saudi diplomat. So shaken are the women by their experience that they did not even collect their belongings after they were rescued, according to Balkrishan Pandey, the conveyor of Maiti India NGO.

Their hopes of a good future turned into a nightmare as the two were held hostage and allegedly sexually abused almost every day for four months by their employer.

“I was excited when I left home and promised my family members that I will send money every month and we will soon build a new house and start our own shop. No one else would need to move out of Nepal for work,” said one of the women.

The two women were first taken to Saudi Arabia but soon were sold to another agent and were sent to India and ensnared again into believing that the pay and work would be the same.

The victims were taken to the fifth floor of Caitriona Apartment of Ambience Island in Gurgaon. Their work in the house included cleaning, cooking, washing clothes and dusting.

“We used to get up early in the morning and sleep late after 1am most of the days. Despite being unwell, there was no mercy for us and we were forced to work, massage and were later raped. They did not understand our language and we didn’t understand theirs,” said victim.

The victims allege that the friends of the Arabian diplomat started taking advantage of them. “They used to visit the employer, had drinks and rape us till late. Many times, the guests also demanded massage and used to give us tips, which was taken by the wife of the employer,” said the victims.

The two women were rescued after another woman, who allegedly was also sold to the same diplomat, managed to escape from his clutches and alerted an NGA that works in the area of human trafficking, child labour and prostitution.
