43 stolen bikes recovered from a gang.

Vijayawada, September 5: A gang of nine members, including a juvenile, was busted by police here. They recovered 43 motorcycles worth Rs 8.55 lakh from them.

Police commissioner Gautam Sawang deployed special teams to nab the offenders from various parts of the city. On Friday, the police, on suspicion, picked up two persons from Gollapudi and six others from Ramvarappadu and investigated them. While S Vijaya Bhaskar (38) and P Lanka Vijaya Kumar (30) are natives of Krishna district, the others K Gopichand (22), M Siva (21), Ch Hemanth (19), Ch Vasanth (19), T Raj Kumar (19), P Vinay (19) and the juvenile belong to Gunadala.

The gang members used to move through various colonies in the night and identify vehicles parked outside the houses. They used to get a duplicate key made and use it to unlock the locked vehicle. They used to hide the bikes under bushes near a cold storage in Guntupalli or with a mechanic in Ungutur.

“All the accused are habituated to getting easy money and began stealing two-wheelers to make a fast buck. They used to steal vehicles parked outside commercial establishments,” said a police officer.

The police recovered 22 motorcycles from Bhaskar and Vijaya Kumar and 21 from the others.
