VADODARA: Teenagers like to flaunt latest gadgets these days and the fondness for them led a minor girl to enter prostitution a year ago. Much to the shock of her mother and counsellor, a 13-year-old told them that she had taken to prostitution because of her aspiration to use high-end gadgets and mobile phones.
The mother, who runs a grocery shop in Subhanpura, didn’t have any clue of her daughter’s act till the girl spilled the beans earlier this week. “The girl told her mother about her act when she thought that she had become pregnant. Her mother was shocked when she learnt that her daughter had turned to prostitution,” said a counsellor of 181 Abhayam service.
“She tried to explain the teenager that prostitution is illegal and immoral, but the girl refused to budge. It was then that the mother called us up to seek help,” she added.
