The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and India’s gadfly Dr. Subramanian Swamy has become butt of a joke after he almost tied the Mangala Suthra around the neck of a bride at a wedding in Tamil Nadu. Dr. Swamy had been invited to a wedding during his recent visit to his native state of Tamil Nadu. He was asked to bless the couple. The elders gave him the Mangala Suthra asking him to touch that and bless the bride.
To their utter shock and horror, Dr. Swamy almost tied it around the neck of the bride. A vigilant elderly woman pulled him back and prevented him from tying the knot again. The video of the incident has gone viral. Apparently Dr. Swamy mistook the Mangala Suthra for a small garland. He later realized the blunder he almost did.
