In a shocking incident, a seven-year-old girl was thrashed and pushed out of a running car, allegedly by her father at Dwamsalapuram in Khammam urban mandal in the wee hours of Monday.

Amoga, daughter of V. Devender, a commission agent, and Kalpana, of Guttala Bazar in the town, was found lying on the roadside in a semi-conscious state. Passersby alerted 108, whose personnel rushed the girl to the district headquarters hospital.

The girl, who sustained serious injuries on her forehead and bruises on her face and other parts of the body, reportedly told the police that she was beaten by her father in their car en route Khammam from Hyderabad. Amoga told the police that her parents took her to a relative’s marriage in Hyderabad a few days ago. Her father quarrelled with her mother in Hyderabad before their departure.

Meanwhile, the Khammam police traced the car at Ramalayam near Kasba Bazar. However, Devender remained untraceable. It is suspected that Devender pushed Amoga out of the car after a heated argument with his wife, said Khammam DSP P Balakishan Rao. A case would be filed against Devender after recording the statement of his wife, he added. The girl was shifted to a private hospital where her condition was stated to be stable.

Meanwhile, Kalpana, who rushed to the town from Hyderabad on learning about the injuries suffered by her daughter, told the police that she had already lodged a “missing complaint” with the Osmania University police on Sunday. The Khammam urban police recorded the statement of Kalpana late in the evening in this regard.
