Lucknow: In a ‘medical miracle’, a 32-year-old woman with male chromosomes has given birth to twins in Meerut.
Dr Anshu Jindal and Dr Sunil Jindal, owner of the nursing home, said on Sunday that the woman had come to them three years ago as she was not capable of bearing a child.
“During examination, we found that she had male chromosomes (46XY) instead of female chromosomes (46XX) and her uterus and ovaries were not fully developed. We treated her and used the IVF technology to help her bear children. Throughout the pregnancy period, she was kept under our observation and on Friday, she delivered twins. The babies weigh 2.5 and 2.254 kilogram and are perfectly healthy,” the doctors said
The woman’s husband and family are overjoyed, but do not wish to disclose their identity, the doctors added.
