New Delhi: Even as the future of the nomination dossier of Delhi as a world heritage city for 2015 continues to be uncertain, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is readying itself to submit a dossier for including the ruins of ancient Nalanda in the list for 2016.

According to the dossier that is likely to be submitted this month, Nalanda is an outstanding example that illustrates significant stages in human history. The dossier also mentions how Nalanda is directly or tangibly associated with events or living traditions, ideas, beliefs, artistic and literary works of outstanding universal significance.

Besides Nalanda, Kangchenjunga can also be nominated for inclusion in the 2016 list.

Meanwhile, a representative of the Delhi chapter of INTACH had gone to Paris this week to put forth some technical clarifications required by UNESCO on the dossier for including Delhi in the world heritage list.

Nalanda has an ancient history going back to the days of Mahavira and Buddha. It not only enjoys a special place in the history of Buddhism but also in the history of art, religion, architecture and scriptures.

The dossier reflects how Nalanda exhibits an important interchange of human values over a span of time.

The remains at Nalanda were included in the world heritage sites tentative list in 2009, the first step to initiate the nomination process.?
