NEW DELHI: A 51-year-old Delhi Police assistant sub-inspector was killed and two of his colleagues sustained injuries after a speeding truck hit a police control room van near the Delhi-Noida border in Mayur Vihar on Monday night.
This took place nearly a month after a similar incident, which left two policemen dead and a third injured, was reported at Jaitpur. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Subedar Khan.
The police suspect that the absconding truck driver was drunk. The impact of the truck’s speed was so strong that the PCR vehicle along with a barricade placed next to it was dragged for nearly 20 metres before both the vehicles came to a halt. Mr. Khan came under the PCR van, while his colleagues were trapped inside.
Shalimar Garden resident Mr. Khan with ASI Giridhari Lal and constable Mohammad Aakil were deployed at Chilla near the border.
Passers-by and other policemen rushed the injured to the nearby Max Hospital where Mr. Khan was declared brought dead.
