New Delhi : Coming out in support of Shashi Tharoor, who may be questioned by the Delhi Police in connection with the death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar over the next couple of days, the Congress Monday said there was a “sustained misinformation campaign based on insinuation and innuendos” against him and stressed he was not an accused in the case.
Tharoor held a late-night meeting with Ahmed Patel, the political secretary to Congress president Sonia Gandhi. Sources said he explained his side of the story and discussed issues related to his constituency Thiruvananthapuram.
“There is a sustained misinformation campaign in which a certain section of leadership of the BJP is also involved. They appear or claim to have access to documents and information that could possibly be available only with the investigating officer or investigating agency and none else. Authenticity of such information is, therefore, itself in serious doubt,” Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said.
