As the Rohtak sisters became heroes of the nation after a video of them beating three alleged ‘harassers’ on Haryana Roadways bus went viral, another video has been released that reveals the other side of the incident—doubting the sisters’ bravery, calling them bullies instead by eye witnesses. These four women and neighbours from their village have come forward with affidavits and testimonies in support of the accused, who are currently in police custody. The affidavits were submitted to the Haryana Police on Wednesday.
The video shows women who claim to be eye witnesses to the entire incident talking about what they saw. One of the woman said, “It was all planned. Why would the girls carry a men’s belt in their bag?” while another eye witness claimed that the accused did not tease the girls.
The video also shows people from the village of Thana Khurd who claim that the two sisters have been involved in such incidences before and are frauds.What gives this story another unexpected turn is a statement by one of the villagers: “The girls have done a similar blackmail case on boys from a nearby village Sisana and taken money from them and settled the case. The case details are available in the police station. We have heard the compromise reached 35- 40 thousand as the boy’s family feared a police case.”
In the video a man said, “The boys are being framed without real cause. Why would the girl constantly look back at the camera? She did that because she was confirming that the video was being made.” Another eye witness added, “The boy is seen saving himself from being kicked by the girls while the third boy who has been named (by these girls) did not even board the bus from Rohtak. He boarded from Bahlot which contradicts girls statement.”
The Sarpanch of the Thana Khurd village, Raj Singh stated, “The matter is of argument and fight between the boys and the girls. It is very unfair that it is being given the colour of molestation or eve teasing.”
