Delhi University on Monday held an open house session for students and parents to discuss the implementation of the four-year degree programme which was approved by the Academic Council and the Executive Council recently. The session was organised by the University to give the students a clear idea about the new structure which is to be implemented from this year.

The programme, called ‘Open Days’, is a two-day session organised in the North Campus where the students and the parents can raise their queries. Around 1,500 students attended the three-hour session on the first day and were familiarised with the details of the new programme. Most of the students were of Class XII and wanted to know about the admission procedure this year.

Dean of the Student’s Welfare of Delhi University J. M. Khurana briefed the students about the new four-year structure of the courses and described the course combination being offered by the University.

Delhi University officials also explained which courses would have entrance tests and said contrary to the previous trend there would be no entrance test for English Journalism and English Honours this time.

However, Mr. Khurana clarified that the admission in Hindi Journalism will be only done through an entrance test.

Journalism too will be a four-year programme like other courses and its syllabus will be announced in two to three days, he said. Besides Hindi Journalism, the entrance tests will also be held for Music, French, German, Spanish Studies, Social Work, Management Studies and Bachelor of Fine Arts.
