A total of 32 fire incidents occurred in the city, with most of them being reported from factories.

More than 40 burn patients visited different hospitals. A total of 14 burn patients visited CMCH. Out of them, a 22- year-old woman from Abohar had suffered 85% burns. She was critical while the rest were sent back home after being administered first aid. The woman was lighting up her house when she got electrocuted and suffered burn injuries.

Nine patients went to DMCH. They had suffered facial and hand injuries due to cracker bursting.

A total of 20 patients were sent back home after first aid at Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital while three kids with minor burns went to Deep Hospital. At Apollo Hospital, only three cases with minor burns were reported while one was reported at Civil Hospital.

The fire brigade department was on its toes during the whole night as fire incidents kept pouring in. Due to this, the area also had to go without power. A major fire broke out in a Moti Nagar factory and another in Focal Point phase 8 where more than eight fire tenders were used to douse the flames. The fire department took nearly four hours each to douse the flames in both the factories which made auto spare parts. The cause of fire in both the cases was not known as yet.

The remaining incidents, which were spread throughout the city, were minor and it took about 15-20 minutes for the fire brigade teams to douse the flames at each spot.
