Dubai: A new school that follows Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum was launched in Dubai on Saturday. The school, which will open its door in the 2014-2015 academic year, has a capacity to enrol 3,000 pupils from KG-1 up to grade-6.
Located in Al Quasis, the Bilva Indian School (BIS) was inaugurated by Sharad Pawar, India’s federal minister of agriculture, and Arun Jaitley, leader of the opposition in the Upper House of Indian parliament (Rajya Sabha) yesterday. Also present were Dr. Prabhakar Kore, member of parliament and B.R. Shetty, a senior Indian business man in the UAE.
Addressing the audience Dr. Kore said: “The school will provide world class education having a strong focus on Indian culture and values.”
Richard Monteiro, principal of school, said: “Following the internationally accepted CBSE curriculum, the essence of education at Bilva International School will be holistic. The school would train its pupils to look beyond academic efforts helping them in choices they make to face the challenges of life in positive manner.”
Speaking on the occasion, Ahmad Mohammad Al Jafla Al Hemeiri, Director of BIS, said: “Being a new entrant in Dubai’s education sector, our responsibilities are manifold. We have in place a strong academic and supportive system that sets the standard for quality. Our curricula led by teachers who are experts in their respective subjects, provide opportunities for the students to excel in their areas of choice. We strive to make the students competitive by creating an atmosphere where students, faculty and staff thrive.”
Dr. Kore said that the school will provide world class education having a strong focus on Indian culture and values. He said: “Our rich heritage helps us to have the edge of a world-class academic pedagogy rooted in the Indian culture.”
