Mohammed launches UAE National Agenda

The seven years’ agenda recognises the UAE Vision 2021 matching the UAE 50th National Day.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has launched the UAE National Agenda. The launching took place in Abu Dhabi in presence of senior officials from federal and local governments and media representatives.

The UAE National Agenda stipulates the objectives and projects in the sectors of education, healthcare, economy, police and security, housing, infrastructure and government services. The seven years’ agenda recognises the UAE Vision 2021 matching the UAE 50th National Day. Over 300 officials from 90 federal and local government entities worked on the preparation of the agenda.

Shaikh Mohammed asserted that the last phase witnessed many achievements, under the leadership of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and with the efforts of thousands of federal and local teams that followed one vision and worked with harmony and synergy.

The UAE took the lead in many aspects, launched various megaprojects and won the hosting of the biggest cultural event in the world. The UAE economy proven as one of the strongest and most resilient in the world and could retain a sustainable growth that exceeded all expectations. The most important of all, we have proved that we are one of the happiest nations in the world, according to the United Nations’ reports.

Shaikh Mohammed said: “On behalf of Shaikh Khalifa, and I personally, would like to thank those who put their efforts and hard work to recognise all these achievements. I would also like to tell everybody that we haven’t yet reached our objective, and we did not yet distinguish all our vision.”

Shaikh Mohammed explained that the next seven years are crucial for the UAE as the country is trying to achieve its national objectives in a world that is undergoing major changes, and these seven years are quite busy with work, projects, great initiatives and challenges. Shaikh Mohammed said: “if our performance over the past years was 100 per cent, then we need 200 per cent during the upcoming seven years”.

The ceremony demonstrated the most important projects, most particularly in relation to the services provided to the citizens. Shaikh Mohammed assured that education sector is a top priority and the next few years will witness major changes in the education systems. He added that the schools and universities will be fully equipped and the education institutes will integrate topnotch technologies to serve research and learning process.

Shaikh Mohammed has also approved a national initiative to invest in pre-school education as nursery schools play significant role in forming the child’s personality and future.

In the healthcare sector, Shaikh Mohammed delegated Ministry of Health to coordinate with all health authorities in the UAE to accredit public and private hospitals according to clear international standards in terms of services and medical staff. He clarified that medical services is a red line and any medical facility that does not acquire the required accreditation will not be allowed to operate in the UAE after 2021.

In the housing sector, Shaikh Mohammed approved a goal in the UAE National Agenda that the waiting period should not exceed two years from the date of application. Shaikh Mohammed confirmed that with the cooperation between the federal and local government and with the support of UAE President this goal will be achieved. The two years’ waiting period is considered a world record, and we support youth to start their families and settle down, he added.

In the sector of Emiratisation, Shaikh Mohammed said that 2013 was declared the year of Emiratisation, and the project has achieved its objectives. He added that the government will not accept for its youth to set jobless, and we are planning to increase Emiratisation in the private sector 10 times during the next phase. He said: “The private sector had contributed significantly in this regard, but we are still expecting more. If motivation is not enough, the government will enforce new measures to increase Emiratisation in the public sector. Emiratisation is a top priority during the next seven years.”

In the economic sector, Shaikh Mohammed assured that during the coming years the world will witness major economic changes and the UAE should be in the heart of these changes to become the world’s economic, tourism and trade capital for over 2 billion person. He stated that to achieve this objective UAE must develop its infrastructure and transport systems and lead the world in the “Ease of Doing Business Index”.

Shaikh Mohammed explained that the government has set its objective to increase the UAE Per Capita Income by 65 per cent since the ultimate goal for any development project is the welfare of people and only taking leading position in international ranking reports.
