A 25-year-old Asian resident succumbed to his injuries after the car he was driving overturned several times in the Daqdaqa area in Ras Al Khaimah.
Major Salem Burqiba, Head of the Traffic and Patrols Section at the Daqdaqa Police Station, on Tuesday attributed the accident to overspeeding.
“The man, identified as H.S.A., was driving his car at a high speed and lost control over it. It veered off the road, and overturned several times.” The accident resulted in head injuries to the victim, in addition to injuries all over his body. The Central Operations Room of the RAK Police, alerted of the mishap, dispatched traffic and rescue teams to the scene, but the man was declared dead at the spot. “The body of the deceased was shifted to the morgue.”
Major Burqiba urged all motorists to abide by traffic rules and regulations, and respect the speed limit “for their own safety and that of others”.
Maid rescued
Meanwhile, the RAK civil defence department rescued a 28-year-old Asian maid, who attempted to commit suicide in the house of her employer in Rifaa area of the Red Island.
RAK Civil Defence said they rushed to the scene after being alerted of the suicide attempt. “Initial investigations show that the domestic helper slashed her hand in a bid to kill herself.”
First aid was provided to the woman, after which she was rushed to the Saqr Hospital.
