Sharjah Police begin too book those who block traffic in front of mosques

Traffic and Patrols Department Sharjah Police has announced that it will book offenders for traffic violations such as parking at random and blocking traffic in the streets and roads , around mosques.

Article 41 of the Regulations of the Traffic Law provides for penalties on those who park in middle of the road without justification. The fine is Dh500 plus 4 black points.

After more than a month of awareness campaign via the press and the media and through platforms such as Friday sermons as well as distribution of awareness pamphlets which ask car owners to avoid random parking and blocking traffic on the street , especially those leading up to mosques, the new finecame to effect from yesterday, Friday, October 25.

Blocking traffic in such a way also blocks access of emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire engines to their destinations to sites that require rapid intervention to address them.

Colonel Ahmed bin Darwish , Acting Director of Traffic and Patrols said: ” The instructions have been issued to patrol traffic sergeants, to begin booking drivers and owners of vehicles which obstruct traffic and are paked at random, in different locations in Sharjah , especially in front yards of mosques during Friday prayers.

The Acting Director of the Department of Traffic and Patrols called on drivers and vehicle owners to abide by traffic laws, and follow the systems, taking into account the safety of road users, and facilitate the movement of traffic on all streets and squares.
