A few hours ago, yet another powerful earthquake hit Pakistan’s southwest region, which is already reeling under the devastating effects of a quake earlier this week.

According to local media reports, on Saturday afternoon a 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck 96 kilometres northeast of the district of Awaran.

“It was not an aftershock. It was an independent earthquake,” Zahid Rafi, director of the National Seismic Centre of Pakistan, told Geo TV.

There was no report on tremors being felt in the UAE. The National Centre for Meterology and Seismology (NCMS) while recording the quake, including tremors off the coast of Oman, had yet to confirm or deny tremors being felt in the UAE.
