Eida launches e-gate service on ID cards with 2-year validity
Residents of the UAE will now be able to activate the e- gate service on the Emirates National identity cards for a fee of Dh150, the Emirates Identity Authority (Eida) has said.
According to a report in Emarat Al Youm the e-gate service will be added to ID card services for a fixed period of two years.
Renewal fees for two years will also be Dh150.
Eida confirmed that the holders of ID cards – both Emaratis and expats – can activate the service from the departments which are running and managing the e-gate services under the Ministry of Interior.
Eida has stressed the many advantages for activating the e-gate service on the Emirates ID card – allowing for the use of a single card to travel, with the ID card now acting as a comprehensive identity document.
Subscribers who currently hold a separate e-gate card can also switch the service to their ID card.
