FerrariDubai: A speeding Ferrari driver died early on Sunday morning after his car skidded onto a grassy area and then split into two after smashing into a palm tree, it is the second death on the road since the start of Ramadan, according to Dubai’s top traffic prosecutor.

The 20-year-old Indian driver died of his injuries at around 1am after his Ferrari hit a palm tree then split into two and was gutted by fire at Dubai Motor City, said Senior Chief Prosecutor Salah Bu Farousha, Head of Dubai Traffic Public Prosecution (TPP).

“This is the second death since the beginning of Ramadan. We seriously and strongly urge road users and motorists to be more alert and attentive while sitting behind the wheel and particularly before iftar and suhour time. Drivers usually tend to lose concentration before iftar and suhour, but we dearly advise them to constantly remain on the alert while driving and to abide by the law for their safety and that of other road users,” Bu Farousha told Gulf News.

A 21-year-old Emirati, who died on the Hatta Road at the beginning of Ramadan, and Sunday’s victim were responsible for their own deaths, said the TPP’s Head. According to Senior Traffic Prosecutor Ammar Al Danhani, who conducted onsite inspections, the Ferrari was being driven at very high speed when the driver lost control and suddenly veered off the fast lane and skidded over the grassy area for nearly 67 metres.
