Rough Seas: Stay off the beach this evening

The National Center of Meteorology & Seismology (NCMS) has said that tomorrow will be cloudy and hazy weather at times by afternoon over some eastern and southern areas. Light to moderate winds in general, becoming fresh at times, especially over the sea.

Rough SeasThe sea is average and may be rough during the evening and night, whereas waves are up to two and three feet near the coast and from two to four and five feet in depth which may reach 6 feet during the evening and night.

The UAE has seen some tragic deaths due to drowning as beach-goers have not taken forecasts of rough seas seriously. Despite red flags and lifeguards manning the beaches, people have still insisted on swimming in the sea, endangering their lives.

In the last 10 days, two Indian men drowned off Jumeirah Open beach after choosing to swim in rough seas. The relative humidity is likely to increase during night and tomorrow early morning over some coastal and internal areas, with a chance of mist formation.

It also announced that the wind will be Southwesterly-Northwesterly in general, reaching 36 km/h at times over the sea during the evening and night.
