HolidayThursday, June 6, has been declared holiday for the public and private sectors, extending the weekend to three days. The UAE residents will have a longer three-day weekend in June as Islamic holiday falls just a day ahead of weekend.

According to Hijri (Islamic) calendar, Israa wal Mairaj holiday is expected to fall on Thursday, June 6, 2013, just before the start of the weekend – Friday and Saturday. It means the weekend will extend to three days on June 6 (Thursday), June 7 (Friday) and June 8 (Saturday). Islamic holiday exact dates are subject to moon sighting. There are 13 public holidays in the UAE this year.

Humaid Mohamed Al Qutami, Minister of Education, in his capacity as Chairman of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, said Thursday, June 6, 2013 will be holiday for employees working in the ministries and federal agencies; offices will resume on Sunday, 9 June 2013.
