JEDDAH: A fire at a home in Ohod Al-Masaraha on Tuesday resulted in the death of a father and his two children, and injury to four others.

Mohammed Ali, an eyewitness, claimed the ambulance and rescue teams were late to arrive on the scene. In addition he alleged that there was no resuscitation provided for the father and daughter, 13, in one ambulance, and no oxygen for the son, 10, in another.

According to Red Crescent media spokesman in Jazan, Bishi Al-Sarkhi, the operation room received a report on Tuesday afternoon about the fire in the citizen’s home, a local publication reported.

He said six rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the site and discovered the family trapped inside the building.

He said Civil Defense teams were able to remove them from the building, with paramedics immediately attending to them afterwards.

He said two ambulances transported three patients to the hospital while providing pulmonary resuscitation, while other teams remained at the site and transferred four other injured people with minor injuries to hospital for treatment.

Civil Defense spokesman in Jazan, Maj. Yahya Al-Qahtani, said the teams had discovered the fire on the second floor of the residential building. Three people brought out were already deceased, while four others suffered minor burns.
The police are investigating, he said.
