Thane: Aamir Khan-starrer ‘PK’, which has received rave reviews and set the box-office on fire, has earned the ire of right-wing groups who claim the film hurts the sentiments of the majority community.

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has sought an immediate ban on the movie, saying its content is “highly provocative” and hurts the religious sentiments of the community. Maharashtra Coordinator of HJS Sunil Dhanvat today said the outfit has filed police complaints against the film and its makers in Navi Mumbai, Nagpur and Sangli.

HJS activist Uday Dhuri, who filed the complaint with Navi Mumbai Police after watching the Rajkumar Hirani-directed movie, said the film is openly critical of many rituals and traditions followed by Hindus and hence it should be banned.

Dhuri demanded the producers, director and artists of the film be booked for allegedly promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion and outraging religious feelings of a community, among other offences.

The film, which also stars Anushka Sharma among others, hit the theatres on December 19 and earned Rs 95.21 crore at the box-office over the weekend, said the producers.
