Mumbai: The legendary actor ‘Dilip Kumar’ was admitted at Lilavati Hospital with a lung infection recently. However, he is recovering from his ailment and will be discharged from the hospital soon.
The veteran Bollywood actor was brought in to Lilavati Hospital with high fever, cough, body ache and breathlessness. Dr. Jaleel Parker is looking after him and treating him for the lung infection.
Actress Farida Jalal, a close family friend of Dilip Kumar says, “By God’s grace Dilip Saab is out of danger and out of ICU. He suffered from a bout of pneumonia which at his age is very dangerous. But he was under excellent medical supervision and is now under observation in the hospital outside ICU.” She also added that though he is out of danger but he still needs to be under constant watch and care for the prevailing cough and congestion.
The yesteryear star was affected by broncho pneumonia in both his lungs. This involves acute inflammation of the walls of the bronchioles, due to bacterial infection. Sources said that Dilip Kumar was given antibiotics to expand the air passage ways, post which he was doing well and was being able to breathe properly. Dilip Kumar had suffered from a heart attack last year on September and had recovered well.
Udaya Tara Nayar, journalist and family friend says, “He is responding well to the treatment. He is cheerful.”
The legendary actor’s beautiful wife Saira Banu is also not doing very well. Her health is also failing due to the stress that she has been going through all these days. A family friend has said that Sairaji doesn’t look after herself and is becoming pale day by day. Whenever she is asked to consult a doctor she always replies that she will do so later, but that later doesn’t come.
