The Urban Local Body Polls was the first election contested by the Karnataka Janatha Party (KJP) and the upcoming Assembly polls will be the last one, said BJP National Vice President D V Sadananda Gowda.
He was speaking to the media persons, after a felicitation programme organised for him by the District BJP Unit for being elected as the BJP National Vice President.
Yeddurappa became the Chief Minister because of BJP. However, he started claiming the party’s achievements as his own.
The party is still suffering due to the corruption that took place during his tenure. After he left the party, he took the corruption with him but he cannot take BJP manifesto, he said.
“I have stopped speaking much about Karnataka Janatha Party, as the party is powerless. I used to initially speak about KJP as Yeddyurappa used to try to hijack the BJP party itself with his claims. However, many know the truth about KJP and many have quit the party. Seven corporators from Dharwad who contested elections from Karnataka Janatha Party have quit the party and joined BJP,” he said.
“I don’t see any point on speaking about Renukacharya. When he was the Chief Minister, I had ordered an investigation against him. Now, he has quit the party. We have all seen his dance and drama. I don’t want to speak about him and give him any importance as he is not worth it,” said Gowda.
“We have already sent the proposal to suspend Yeddyurappa’s son B Y Raghavendra to the parliamentary committee. We are awaiting for its decision,” he said.
BJP is giving importance to the youth in its party and will do the same in the future. Almost 60 per cent of the party’s MLAs are youth, he said.
Gowda said that the party respects MLA Raghupathy Bhat’s decision on not contesting for the upcoming elections. “When Bhat was accused with the CD scandal, he decided to step down as he did not want the party’s image to be tarnished.
This step shows the concern he has for the party. He says that the CDs are fake and has requested for a thorough investigation,” said Gowda and added that the party will consider his choice of candidate for the upcoming elections.
The manifesto has been prepared and will be released on April 5. The manifesto will be prepared at state-level and also at the district-level. The district-level manifesto will address the problems and concerns of the district, he said.
