264kg of hashish worth Dh2.5 million has been seized from boat (abra) operators by the Drug Enforcement Administration of Dubai Police. Police said the arrested people intended to sell the narcotic to an unknown person under the guidance of a fourth person living in another Gulf country.

The arrested people are RB, aged 25 and OPT, 27.  Major General Abdul Jalil Al Asmoa called it the ‘Naif Operation’ because the first arrest of the accused was in the Naif Souq.  The DEA had got a tip-off that narcotics had been brought into the Dubai Creek area and that a sample of the drug would be delivered to a third unknown person in the Naif market who will be recognized by details given by a fourth man living in another Gulf country.

The first accused came to the market at midnight carrying a handbag containing the drug and waited for a person to deliver it.  A policeman approached the accused who handed over the bag to him by mistake. The bag contained 50kg of hashish.  The arrested person admitted to the police that a larger quantity of the drug was hidden in a secret place.  214kg of hashish was found hidden in a two-layered water tank in a boat on Dubai Creek.
