Udupi: Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya is now appointed as the Governor of Nagaland on Monday, July 14. He originally hails from Udupi and was a first batch student (1948-50) of Udupi MGM College.
P.B. Acharya will also discharge the functions of the Governor of Tripura, in addition to his own duties, until regular arrangements for the office of the Governor of Tripura is made.
Acharya was serving as the BJP Nationaal Secretray during the period 1995-2000 when the present Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the BJP National General Secretary. Achary was then the in-charge of party affairs in north east states.
It has also been learnt that the President of India has accepted the resignation of Vakkom Purushothaman, as Governor of Tripura. He was earlier appointed as governor of Nagaland. Currently, Meghalaya Governor Dr. Krishna Kant Paul is looking after the office of the Governor of Nagaland following the resignation of Dr. Ashwani Kumar.
