Mangalore, Mar 10: ‘Nruthya Sandhya’ co-sponsored by Kannada and Culture Bangalore organised the ‘Rangapravesham’ of Sonia Lobo, student of Bharathanjali held at Town Hall on March 9, Sunday.
Natyarani Shanthala Award recipient Guru Ullal Mohan Kumar, Natyanikethan Kolya, inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp and handed over the ‘Gejje’ to Sonia. He also handed over the ‘Taala’ to her Guru Prathima Sridhar Holla of Bharathanjali.
Sonia performed various forms of Bharathanatyam, namely ‘Pushpanjali’, ‘Ardhanarishwara’, ‘Aadithaala’, ‘Thillana’, ‘Stuthi’, ‘Varna’, and ‘Abhinaya’.
MLC Captain Ganesh Karnik, Karnataka Milk Federation(KMF) managing director Dr B V Sathyanarayana, Sri Devi Institute of Technology principal Dr Dilip Kumar K and Sridhar Holla of Bharathanjali were also present on the occasion.
About Sonia Lobo:
Sonia Lobo, most distinguished student of renowned Bharatanatyam exponents Prathima Sridhar and Sridhar Holla at the prestigious Bharathanjali School of Dance located at Mangalore.
Sonia who started her training into the classical dance form at the age of seven has completed her pre-Vidwat and is now pursuing her post Vidwat.
She has performed solo as well as group performances with her Gurus on various platforms in and around Karnataka. Apart from it, Sonia also holds junior grade in Carnatic music under the guidance of Sudhamani Krishnamurthy.
Sonia, is the granddaughter of K K Joseph and Asha Joseph and daughter of Surya Lobo, who is pursuing her final year B E in Electronics and Communication at Sri Devi Institute of Technology, Mangalore.
